Consultations
We understand how difficult it can be living with a pet with special needs.
We take the time to listen and understand all about you and your pet, as well as your home environment and lifestyle, so we can work towards a goal that helps you and your pet.
Improving behaviour and mental health problems takes time. Unfortunately there are no “quick fixes” or magical cures, but we are here to support you every step of the way.
Change of location
From 1 September 2024 consultations will no longer be conducted at Seaforth Veterinary Hospital due to their renovation.
Instead consultations will be conducted at Animal Referral Hospital in Homebush and from 23rd December 2024 will also be at SASH Balgowlah.
Initial consultations
Up to 2-3 hours long
These are conducted at the large front consultation room at Animal Referral Hospital in Homebush, and from 23rd December 2024 at SASH Balgowlah. This allows us to observe how your pet copes in a novel environment, which is very helpful information for us.
You need to complete a questionnaire which we will go through during the consultation. We will then discuss your pet’s diagnosis and explain why they are doing what they are doing and a treatment plan for them.
You are welcome to bring video tours of your home and videos of your pet that you’d like us to see (safety permitting).
You will receive an interim report and an information pack at the end of the consultation and a full report follows afterwards.
Your regular vet will receive copies of all reports so they’re aware of your pet’s treatment

Revisit consultations
30-60 minutes long
These are also conducted at either ARH Homebush or SASH Balgowlah so we can observe the changes in your pet’s behaviour in our environment.
We discuss your pets progress and we will have reviewed the video and diary material you have provided prior to the consultation, so that we can see how your pet has progressed and adjust their treatment plan accordingly.
You will receive a written report for you and your regular vet outlining the progress your pet has made and the plan moving forward
Medication review calls
15-30 Minute phone call
This is a phone review that may be needed between visits to answer questions, make slight adjustments to your pet’s treatment plan and discuss any other concerns.
Travel Fee
House calls are only offered in select circumstances. If a house call is needed there is a $100 p/hr travel fee.
If you aren’t sure if your pets needs to see us or a trainer, give us a call and we can advise
